Hear a bird sing

I started out working on my collages for my Calico Journal but I got distracted and made this birdie collage instead!

Made using paper, fabric, stitch, text and some little seed heads

So cute - we've got baby robins and baby blackbirds nesting in our garden so we are permanently on cat watch at the moment!!

The collage prompted a birdie mosaic for this week's "Mosaic Monday"

All for now, I've got visitors here till Friday so not sure I will get much done this week, but will try to get the other collages finished to show you soon

hey bird girl! I was planning on a nice rainy morning of stitching but instead, I stopped here and had my coffee with you and the birdies! The bird stitchery is really elegant, yet simple--LOVELY! Wonderful blog you have going -- it's really like sitting with you in the kitchen and chatting up art! Have a great (hopefully artful) week! victoria

Lovely lovely bird collage Carolyn, and the mosaic is wonderful. Where did the passion for all things birdy come from in blogland? Was it die-cut bird designs? It prompted me to make silver bird necklaces with enamelled wings. Strange how the bird theme had spread, and its now in tv adverts, mainstream high street houmeware, you name it!

Hi and thanks for your lovely comments

My inspiration and love of birds comes directly from the birds I have and encourage in my own garden. I especially love blackbirds and robins, both having such cheeky personalities ...

Great collage! Great mosaic! (Did you ask all photo-takers? I reckoned it's an honor anyway to be choosen for a mosaic?)
Love your birds and am on birdies since long, if not on my blog so far.

My blackbirds sing a beautiful song right now to your birds *hellotoyoufriendsoverthere*
In my garden are these year the wrens especially enjoyable and there might be already wee great tits although it's quite early.

Hi Tally
Yes, I asked the artists first before using their pictures in the mosaic. I always do this out of courtesy! I'm glad you liked it!

Hi Gina
Yes, I love all nature things, so I enjoyed combining two loves in the collage!

Love this!

I've been watching some very confident robins strutting around the park I take my walks in...

Lovely collage Carolyn and I like the mosaic. Do you have to gather the photos into one folder to make them? I have only made collages/mosaics in Picasa before. Hope you enjoy the week with your visitors and it doesn't rain too much!

I love your bird collage... I love the simplicity (though I am sure it wasn't simple!) and the muted colours.

The mosaic is stunning. Have a good week and thanks for visiting my blog.

Hi Carolyn,
Just popped round to have a look!
What lovely work, I love the birds.
You've got alot in common with my mate Richard who lives in St. Ives he goes out looking for the birds flying in from afar... he's on my blog list. He and his wife have a workshop in the Sloop Gallery building??Stop by sometime and tell him I sent you, that will freak them out as I live in Crete, they have a sense of humour! He works at the Leach Pottery too. Nice couple.
Sorry, got carried away.. I do like your work and I'll revisit soon.
