Inside Dreamers

Yesterday I went to see an exhibition of fine art paintings by artist Kristin Vestgård at Badcocks Art Gallery in Newlyn

Kristen is a Norwegian painter who studied art at Falmouth College of Art, Cornwall. As soon as I saw the exhibition advertised I was drawn to it ... I had to go and see the paintings for myself!

Her paintings are quietly beautiful, ethereal, dreamlike, enigmatic, spellbinding and I fell in love with many of them

Many of her enchanting paintings feature beautiful figures of women. Her still life paintings of cups are gorgeous and spots and dots feature on clothing, backgrounds and cups

Her 2009 exhibition is called "Inside Dreamers"

I bought two of her gallery books from previous exhibitions

"Heaven Can Wait" (2006)
"Sweet Disguises" (2007)

Sweet Disguises

On the right is the exhibition preview brochure for "Inside Dreamers"

If you are not able to get to a gallery this weekend then you may like to visit this online gallery of hand embroidery and textile art. I found this wonderful exhibition through Jackie's blog - Stitchworks - the exhibition features work by many different artists including Jackie and Jeanamarie

I wonder how much $ a ticket from Raleigh, NC to St. Ives is??? I'm going to go and look right now.

You know what I love about you Carolyn - it's not only your amazing heart and spirit that clearly comes through your own work, but it's your ability to see the specialness in the work of others. These paintings are wonderful. And you are so right - they are etheral and magical. Can't quite put my finger on it. And the blog you pointed out - I visited there many times as I believe her link is in your links. Her work really is so cool - very textural, non traditional.

My wish - to visit you - to walk with you on the beach of St. Ives whilest in deep conversation, just before going for a delciious lunch and a stop and Lesley's gallery and the chocolate shop!

XO

Didn't get to Newlyn this time..but St Ives was lovely as usual.

Very sad to discover that David Beer is closing up at the Penhaven Gallery.
So.....I took the plunge and actually bought a piece of Roy Ray's work - Totem XXXVIII.....

...and after spending another half-a-fortune in GJ Beads....and the Seafood Cafe.....and Lawrences Art Supplies in Redruth(who are also closing on the 13th Sept!!!)....

..it turned out to be a VERY expensive Cornish break-away!!!

But I'm feeling very happy with all my goodies!..

Carolyn what a wonderful post...I love the work of Kristen Vestgard (and oh how I would love to get one or two of her beautiful catalogues too....lucky you). Beautiful art and I love that nordic/scandinavian feel to it. How lovely it must have been to visit this exhibition.

The Stitchworks online art show was lovely too. Thanks so much for the links!

You find the best artists in your gallery travels, Carolyn!
Thanks for sharing them with those of us who can't get there in person.

P.S - weight watching be damned -- I need the recipe for the clotted cream and the scones!
