Roobarb Roobarb!

This week my hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary

We had a lovely day. Indian Summer sunshine finally reached us in the far west and in the afternoon we walked into St. Ives down the coastpath

We had a cuppa and shared some chips on Porthminster beach, played in the harbour amusement arcade (for the first time ever) and hubby won me "Custard" from Roobarb & Custard on the grab machine thingy. I had some strange and amusing looks from people as Custard posed for me in the harbour

Then we walked round to the pier and watched an attention-seeking seal playing in the water and then had a drink in The Pool Club. It was starting to get dark. I took this picture of the Festival flags in the harbour

Later, we went for a meal at The Mermaid Seafood Restaurant in Fish Street, St. Ives

The Mermaid is our favourite place for special occasions because the food, service and ambience is consistently excellent. I confess to being a creature of habit and pretty much order the same thing every time:

Roast duck breast seasoned with
plum, sweet soy and sweet chilli sauce
served with a red onion marmalade
and warm wafer bread

- ♥ -

Chump of Cornish lamb pan fried
served on a potato rosti
with a mint scented gravy
and red currant jelly

Later, Custard came out to dinner with us

and after a few glasses of wine he was anybody's!!!!

Happy Anniversary to you both :-) Looks like you had a wonderful day and Custard enjoyed it too! Please don't wear the sun out before we get there! lol

The menu at The Mermaid looks gorgeous, maybe we'll have to try it out, we have usually gone to Slipways for a special meal on our hols. Maybe time for a change, especially with that gorgeous lamb!

Hi everyone, lovely to hear from you!

Julie, I'm keeping my sun hat on till you get here!

I would recommend The Mermaid for a lovely meal on your holiday - we have never been disappointed in 15 years! It's a very interesting restaurant too, the walls are covered with vintage photos and St. Ives memorabilia. I've added links to The Mermaid's website. You can click on the picture to go there!

ps. Custard says he can recommend the Chianti! (hic)

Sigh..... isn't true love grand.
What a delicious day you spent with the man of your dreams walking, talking, laughing, eating, drinking, sharing and enjoying the moments. It's days like those that keep love alive.
Happy Anniversary dear friend.
PS - Custard looks like he enjoyed himself thoroughly, as well! In that first picture at first glance, he looked HUGE! I laughed so hard.

We used to be big fans of the Mermaids " Early bird" suppers when the kids were younger. Its a bit pricey when we have to pay for 4 adult meals though now. It looks like a great way to spend your Anniversary - congratulations by the way. Looks as if your Anniversary is on my birthday! (10th) St Ives sunsets are the best in the whole wide world. Thanks for sharing your day - wish as ever that I was there!! xxxx

I love hearing from you all. Thank you for your good wishes

It was our 14th, but I test-drove him for quite a few before that!
