Happy Valentine's Day

to laugh often and love much ... to appreciate beauty ...

to find the best in others ... to give of one's self ...
this is to have succeeded

- Ralph Waldo Emerson -

happy valentine's day

thank you so much
for your amazing response to my giveaway
this week I went in search of colour
and signs of spring
and found winter offering some promise

some gestures of beauty
and autumn clinging on still
on my way out through the gate I noticed my bundle
and couldn't resist a peep at it

six weeks into the erosion project and there are signs of life

the silk tops have wet felted in the rain
the leaf is showing it's bare bones
colours and dyes are running and
the calico fabric underneath is eroding

lovely!
all week my thoughts have been on valentine's day

I baked
little heart shaped ginger cookies
for a very dear friend

(hope they travel well)
I played with textures and compositions
for valentine's day
and made a mosaic of beautiful hearts
1. Secret love letters 2. a heart's affection 3. Happy V Day everyone!! 4. Hearts I ♥

thank you to my flickr friends and faves for their beautiful hearts

I made a heart for my hubby
in red and silver
still in love with you
(from a Thin Lizzy song)
and finished the heart for the giveaway

with black stitching and red beads and a heart dangly
it's wrapped in tissue paper with a tag, charm and button
ready to send to the winner

the briefest kiss
and the winner is ...

Thank you everyone for entering and for your wonderful comments
I enjoyed reading them all and thank you for following along ...

I'm afraid there's only one prize this time ... but ...
I will be having another giveaway in April
and so perhaps you will win the next one, you never know!

Have a great valentine's day sweeties

Carolyn ♥

Carolyn,
another delightful post...i can't believe how lovely your erosion bundle looks.. it's already a work of art!
Buds already...i'm so looking forward to the burst of spring..
your valentine heart is so lovely..you've inspired me to plan some more art quilts..i just adore the way you present your work on a heart. Years ago I created an art quilt with hearts for my husband and it's still his favorite piece.
Your could publish the most stunning coffee table book showcasing your mosaics...they are so full of beauty and inspiration!

Hi Carolyn, do you have any advice about incorporating text into a design? I have wanted to have a go for a while...but to be honest I don't know how to begin. Do you use the computer with a particular font/fabric/ink??? Warm wishes, Jen x x
